Analysis of Digital Media 2021

In week 38 2021, the students enrolled in the course Analysis of Digital media from KOMM participated in a hands-on workshop taking apart a computer, in order to get familiar with the computer components.

The idea was simply to dismantle the computer, describe your own observations and document every step in order be able to assemble the computer again.

The purpose of this workshop was to give to students the impression of materiality and the construction of a computer device.

The students’ observations and documentation of this process will form a materialistic perspective to the history of computers and it will be used as a base for discussing the concepts of Media Archeology, later in the course.

The students had fun dismantling and exploring the computer parts. In the end of the workshop we tested the computers and they work really fine.
